Last Saturday, judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden announced the 40 semi-finalists selected from almost 200 auditions in Britain’s Got Talent. The early favorites like Susan Boyle, Shaheen Jafargholi and Greg Pritchard are among the semi-finalist.
8 semi-finalists will get to perform every day until the finals on May 30, 2009. Each of them has around 3 minutes to perform. Then, two acts from each semi-final, chosen by the fans, will go through to the live grand final on Saturday May 30th.
The winner will receive £100,000 and will have the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance in front of the Royal Family, including the Queen.
The performers for Day 1 plus some reactions from the judges
- Diversity – 3 judges – Absolutely fantastic from the 3 judges
- Sue Son – Simon – Talented but lacks personality
- Darth Jackson – Simon – Definite not to resign from BGT
- Natalie Okri – Simon – One of the cutest he met but it’s not a good song choice for her
- Julia Naidenko – Simon -Beautiful and talented and the Royal Family would be delighted to watch her
- Nick Hell – Simon – His performance is not family oriented
- Faces Of Disco – Amanda – A shame why they have to wear masks
- Susan Boyle sang Memory from CATS – Piers – She gave hope and inspiration through her performance in these hard times
From someone who’s not from Britain, it’s surprising to know that you’ll get to know right away who’s going to the finals. After 10 minutes or so of voting, Susan Boyle was the first one to be called. She has the highest votes for the evening making her eligible for the finals. Next two highest votes are Diversity and Natalie Okri. The judges will have to choose which among the two will join Susan Boyle. 2 of the judges (Simon and Piers) chose Diversity.
Susan Boyle and Diversity will have the chance to be the winner of Britain’s Got Talent and perform in front of the Queen.
