The long wait is over as the first daughters, Malia and Sasha, are getting a Portugese Water Dog (PWD) given by Senator Ted Kennedy.

Names such as “Frank” and “Moose” were considered prior to the dog’s arrival but the girls settled with “Bo” after their grandfather Diddley as in “Bo Diddley” and also after a cat owned by their cousins.

The PWD is an excellent choice because it belongs to the list of hypoallergenic dogs. They are great for families with allergies to dog hairs because these dogs do not shed hairs. They are also loving, friendly, intelligent and easily trained.
