tennis

After almost 2 hours and 3 sets (6-1, 6-7, 6-4), Roger Federer (2) from Switzerland won his first Roland Garros French Open against Robin Soderling (23) of Sweden.

Roger Federer is now the 6th Career Grand Slam winner following Andre Agassi of USA. He also ties with Pete Sampras’ record of 14 major Grand Slam titles. Federer saw a window of opportunity to win the elusive Roland Garros as Soderling won over French Open defending champion Rafael Nadal last Sunday May 31.

Federer couldn’t contain his tears as the Switzerland’s National Anthem was played. Soderling was all praises to Federer as he said his speech.

Winning all four Grand Slam tournaments during a career is termed a Career Grand Slam.
